Due to these relationships we ensure that you benefit from high quality, well researched lenses, allowing you access to high definition optics.
The Optometrist will determine your best visual correction, thereafter our trained Optometric Assistants will advise you on the best lens, not only for the frame that you have chosen, but also for the prescription that you require.
LENS MATERIALS AND COATINGS
Specialised lens materials and lens designs
High Refractive Index materials and Aspheric designs are available to reduce lens thickness. This is especially important for people with high prescriptions.

Anti-reflection coating
This is a multilayered coating which eliminates reflections and enhances vision – especially for computer use and night vision. The anti reflection coating also makes lenses cosmetically more appealing as it removes all reflections from the lens surfaces.

Polycarbonate
This material is considerably more impact resistant than other plastic lenses, making it an exceptionally safe spectacle lens option for children and active people. The material is also lighter and thinner than standard plastic and glass lenses, making it the best option for high prescriptions and rimless and semi-rimless frames.

Transitions®
The photo changeable lenses are effective and convenient in any light. They are clear indoors and in low light conditions and tint dark in bright light conditions. Transitions® are 100% UV protective.

Polarized lenses
Glare from water, snow and road surfaces places unnecessary strain on vision. Polarized lenses cut out this glare – giving crisp and comfortable vision.

UV coating
UV rays are invisible but can cause several serious problems to the eyes. The coating protects the eyes from the harmful effects of the sun’s rays.

Hard coating
This coating protects plastic lens surfaces, making them more scratch resistant.
LENS DESIGNS

Single vision (one focal length)
This is the simplest form of spectacle lenses, correcting for a specific distance (either distance or near).

Bifocal (two focal lengths – separated by a line)
Bifocal lenses correct for distance at the top and reading at the bottom. The reading portion is found in a defined semi circle at the bottom of the lens.

Multifocal (multiple focal lengths)
Multifocal lenses are also known as Varifocals and Progressives. The prescription of the lens gradually increases in reading power from the top down through to the bottom of the lens, thereby incorporating distance, intermediate and near vision in one lens. There are no lines dividing these areas.
There are various Multifocal designs available from our optical lens suppliers. Lifestyle requirements determine the best design for each individual. We predominantly work with Varilux®, Nikon® and Hoya® Multifocal designs. Huge advancements in technology and design ensure better clarity, a wider field of vision and increased postural comfort.
Custom designed Multifocal lenses incorporate each individual’s unique data together with their visual behavioral needs. (Varilux® Ipseo™ and Hoyalux iD)

Web.lens
The Nikon® Web.lens has been specifically designed for the older person that requires reading and intermediate vision at the same time. Reading spectacles are limited to either reading or intermediate or a compromise between the two. Web lenses, however, incorporate both in a single lens design maximizing comfort and efficiency in all near working environments.

Anti Fatigue™
This patented lens provides a greater level of comfort for the wearer by relieving symptoms of visual fatigue as typically found in circumstances of long periods of computer work, reading and studying.

Drivewear®
Drivewear® sunglass lens technology reacts to varying light conditions both outside and behind the windshield of the car. The lenses provide glare protection through polarization and photochromics. The tint in the lenses, vary from a light tint in dull conditions to a dark tint in sunny conditions.
